Dr. Joseph Gibian is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of hip and knee conditions, including primary joint replacement and complex revision surgery. He has particular expertise in robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement and anterior approach hip replacement. Dr. Gibian is committed to providing personalized care and works closely with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan focused on relieving pain, restoring function, and helping patients return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. Gibian grew up in Frederick, Maryland and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and Physiology. He then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he served as Vice President of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Following medical school, Dr. Gibian completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and hip and knee replacement fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where he trained under nationally recognized leaders in adult reconstruction and joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Gibian believes that the foundation of excellent orthopaedic care is a strong patient-physician relationship built on trust, communication, and shared decision-making. He understands that every patient has unique goals and circumstances and takes the time to ensure patients understand all available treatment options, whether non-operative

management or surgery. His goal is to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Gibian has remained actively involved in research focused on improving outcomes after hip and knee replacement surgery and evaluating the impact of modern implants, technology, and surgical techniques. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at national meetings.

Dr. Gibian and his family are excited to make Massachusetts their home and become part of the North Shore community. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing tennis, watching baseball, and exploring everything New England has to offer.
